Waimarino
|
Waimarino has been described as a hidden wonderland – just 10 minutes from Omokoroa – nestled on the banks of the Wairoa River.
Established in 1975 as a place where people of all ages could learn about and enjoy kayaking, today Waimarino is so much more. The whole family will enjoy a full day here! You can hire kayaks or canoes and paddle along the tranquil river, have a go at the huge climbing wall, play on water bikes or on the floating pontoon and jump off diving boards of different heights.
There is also a slip ‘n’ slide, hydro slides, a large kayak slide (for the real thrill-seekers!) and a Tarzan Swing, Cargo Net and Gladiators Pole.
There’s a warm pool next to the river, volleyball, a trampoline and lots of BBQ and picnic areas. |

Blue Chip Stadium
The relatively new Tauranga Speedway (Blue Chip Stadium) is fast becoming home to many exciting events (music festivals, expos, rugby matches and more) as well as being the hub of motor sport in the bay of plenty. An afternoon or evening at the speedway racing or demolition derby is good fun for all the family!

Katikati Bird Gardens
Just 10 minutes from our holiday park motels and cabins by car, Katikati Bird Gardens is a great afternoon out for all ages. Established in 1976, the 10 acres of gardens are home to an extensive variety of both native and exotic plants from around the world.
You’ll see over 50 varieties of native and exotic bird life, and can hand-feed friendly peacocks, ducks and doves. Enjoy a cappuccino on the café terrace or visit the Art Gallery to see exhibitions from talented local artists.

Marshall’s Animal Park
The kids will just love this excellent animal park, just half an hour’s drive from beautiful Omokoroa and our camping accommodation. There are loads of friendly animals to feed (pigs, goats, rabbits, sheep, chickens and so much more) including baby animals in spring! There are also picnic areas, a great flying fox, an eel swirl and talking cockatoos! |

Kayaking
When you stay with us at OMOKOROA THERMAL HOLIDAY PARK, be sure to bring your Kayak! The Omokoroa harbour offers beautiful calm water that both young and old will enjoy paddling in, and there are many small bays and rocky points to explore. A short paddle away is the Te Puna River mouth, and a small off-shore island is a great place to kayak to, with its private sandy beaches. Te Puna Quarry Park
Te Puna Quarry Park, less than a 10 minute drive from Omokoroa Holiday Park, offers a beautiful array of landscaped gardens. Enjoy amazing panoramic views out over the Bay of Plenty. Relax as you walk through gardens decorated with ponds, tree ferns, cymbidium orchids, native tree plantings and exotics. Also look out for the sculptures throughout the gardens. A great activity for the whole family!
